I had a great time at beerfest this weekend.
Went with Snare, May, Stu, and Chelcie. Snare drove and was our trusty DD. One must always employ the services of such a DD when attending beerfests. We got there and were given a band and a 4oz. cup to sample as much beer from the 80 brewers as we wanted. Luckily the brewers were set up under two enormous white tents because the weather was windy and cold. There was also food and a band. 6,000 people showed up, and I guess they made over 50K for charity. I wonder if I can write my 20 dollar admission off as a charitable donation on my taxes? not funny. There were some really good beers ( apricot wheat from Ruby River, Shakespeare from Rogue, and this funky-named one from some other brewery were the best). I was surprised at how good Portneuf (our local brewery) was compared to most of the brewers. They really stood out as a good brewery. I got really smashed. In fact, I was hungover by 10:30pm. I had a great time in IF and even saw a few friends at the brewfest. It was nice to see Heidi Funk there too. Next weekend I am going to another beerfest in Wyoming. That should be crazy fun too, and I hear the weather is supposed to actually be good this time.
